Marketing |

|
InfoWeb creates customized marketing strategies and promotional materials for your novel technologies. We focus our approach on two things: compelling content and sophisticated dissemination to potential partners and licensees. InfoWeb develops content through its AXAMAL services.
Marketing Consulting Services
Web and paper based marketing content should be more than patent abstracts. Consider that you can find out more about a person through online dating than you can about most potential cures for cancer! Strong marketing pieces need to promote more than the intellectual property and should provide potential partners with interesting and compelling reasons to sponsor research, as well as license the technology.

Want to take marketing to the top? Consider flash-based marketing pieces (lecturettes) for those technologies that need animation or video to tell the whole story.

Improving the quality of your marketing content still leaves the challenge of getting it into the right people's hands. Barry Datlof, founder of InfoWeb, also founded BirchBob, the world's first XML-based search engine for licensable technologies from academic and government research labs. Just finding the URL for many tech transfer offices can be a challenge; now potential licensees, especially from outside your immediate geography, can find your technology through a single search interface.

Licensing |

|
|
InfoWeb provides valuation and contract negotiation consulting services for in and out licensing opportunities. Barry Datlof, InfoWeb's principal, has almost 20 years of licensing experience. He started the OTT's at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the American Red Cross and has negotiated licenses from the for-profit and nonprofit side of the table. He also helped establish a number of industry standards, such as standard definitions for material transfer agreements. These definitions were later incorporated into the "Uniform Biological Material Transfer Agreement" (aka UBMTA), which has been signed by over 300 institutions.

Consider lowering your transaction costs by using web-based contracting. Short contracts such as MTAs, CDAs, Letters of Intent, and non-exclusive licenses can be drafted, negotiated, and executed more efficiently, consistently, and effectively using online contracting. Web-based approval tracking allows everyone to know who's next for approval or who has been the holdup. Scientists no longer have to wonder where in the process things stand. InfoWeb can provide you with industry standard contracts that can be modified to suit your special needs.

Let InfoWeb help you present your new company to the world. We can assist in writing and illustrating your Executive Summary, Business Plan, and Corporate Presentation.
New companies need to communicate and share documents and knowledge across many people and locations. InfoWeb has developed Matilda to serve not only as your startup's corporate intranet, but also as your extranet to connect your outside advisors, board members, investors, licensors, and collaborators. Matilda is designed to be your web home page all day long, with a mix of corporate, local, and personal links and tools.

We can also design or advise you on your public web site. One of our design specialties allows your readers to dynamically resize the window width without losing layout functionality. This web page, as an example, can be viewed fat or thin and still renders

Want to differentiate your company? Then provide your potential investors with access to InfoWeb's Perluster System. You can give them a short or long version of your corporate flash-based presentation and let them hear and see about you, your technology, and your business.

Economic Development |
|
The web is a vast resource with many valuable, yet separate nodes that can be aggregated. Organizations can facilitate their mission by creating portals that bring together people and needed resources. Barry presented "Enhancing Technology Commercialization Through Web-Based Search and Portal Systems" at The National Acadamies to spur the development of national technology transfer standards (see proposal ).
InfoWeb is developing topical and geographic portals to enhance technology commercialization and economic development. These portals will need to grow beyond being reference centers by becoming knowledge communities and transaction centers. We strongly advocate moving toward "relationship webs" where people using your web site can interact with you and each other. InfoWeb developed the ASSETr Model to describe the evolution of web use.

The Cancer portal leverages the BirchBob search engine to identify and cluster cancer technologies by type of technology or type of use. Have a new portal in mind? Contact us to explore your options.

Geographic portals like the Maryland example below bring together inventors and tech transfer offices looking for licensees, partnerships, and funding with investors, government economic development groups and industry. For example: startups seeking funding within a given state are faced with the time consuming and redundant task of applying for each funding mechanism. We are creating a unified front end that allows applicants to fill out one application that is then sent to each group for which the startup qualifies.

Web and Knowledge Management Services |
InfoWeb offers fully customized web design services, with experience in intranets, extranets, and public web sites.
InfoWeb builds RIAs (Rich Internet Applications using AJAX and DHTML) which provide easier and faster interfaces to traditional web and database content. Another area of focus is usability design and testing. We believe that a pretty web page is less likely to be a functional web page, and we are here to make sure the user of your web site can actually find the information or accomplish the task for which they came.
RIAs Are The Next Step |
|
As business and personal use of the web continues to grow, we can expect to see the evolution of computing to move off the desktop and further into wireless, mobile devices, like tablet PCs. Mobile access to your rolodex on your cell or laptop should be part of your future knowledge systems.
Infrastructure Goes Mobile
In order to obtain, quality control, categorize, rate, rank, store, retrieve, repurpose, and benefit from information from your staff, partners, investors, and even strangers, you need to consider forming a knowledge community where people can help each other learn across the globe and across the years.
